Vacation in the Netherlands

We spend some days in the Netherlands, Den Haag. We stayed at the Steigenberger Kurhaus Hotel which is directly at the beach...
We arrived there Monday evening.
Tuesday we visited the Rotterdam Zoo and after this we drove into the citycenter for shopping. But in the Netherlands most shops close at 6 pm so we had only 1 hour for shopping.
The Zoo is so beautiful with huge territories for the animals. The Oceanium is awesome, the big hall with the butterflies too. You should go there when you are in Rotterdam.
Another cool thing. There are some animals without real barriers, like the marmots. As you can see in the first 2 pics - i could reach out my hand and try to grab one.

After dinner we drove back to Den Haag.

Wednesday we drove to Amsterdam for sightseeing and shopping too. We parked our car in a big car park not far from Madame Tussauds. It was very expensive. 2€ for 20 min.....We stayed there for about 3-4 hours. I should say, we wanted to stay, cause on the way back to our car there where so many policecars, bikes and officers. The street we wanted to walk was closed and we had to go another way. When we reached the street where the car park was.... it was closed.... We could not get into the carpark. We asked the officer why we cannot get to our car and he just said that there is a problem. He could not tell how long we had to wait. We just said: Hey, our car is inside this house and its very expensive to stay there... He knew but didn't do anything
So we walked the streets a little more looked for a toilet and went back- still a barrier. We heared some people talkin about a bomb threat... OK, This could take longer...we asked again and they said 3-4 hours... holy shit.... We took another walk to the central train station and also looked for a cheap place to eat thats not fast food. We did´nt find anything.

We slowly walked back to the street and the barrier was gonne, we thought.... but it was just a few meters nearer at the car park, still no way to get inside. So we just took a seat on the stairs of a building nearby. After maybe 10 min. the barrier was open. After all we spend more than 8 hours in Amsterdam. For our parking ticket this would have been a full day (50€), oh no. But when we got inside there was a young man telling us, that today parking is for free, because of the circumstances. Yay!!! Doing the happy dance!!!!

Thursday we spend in Den Haag with sightseeing til 3pm and then 2 hours at the beach.

Friday we left at 10.30 am. We stopped at Palais Het Loo in Appeldoorn for 2 hours and arrived home at 9.15 pm.

Weekend in Hannover

I spend a weekend in Hannover. I wanted to visit the British Weekend at Rittergut Remeringhausen, the Hannover Zoo, the Garden Festival at Herrenhäuser Gärten in Hannover and, as always, the fleamarket.

Now just some pics.

Garden Festival

Zoo
The Hannover Zoo has not as many different species such as the Berlin Zoo, but the animal have much bigger territories.

Rittergut Remeringhausen
We had delicious food, like scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam and a very tasty ice tea.

London- Day 3

Saturday was planned for shopping. This day we started with our great and yummie breakfast at The Breakfast Club.
These pancakes look so yummie, don´t they?!

With the Tube we got to Covent Garden. On our way we came to Kings Cross again. The evening befor we looked on the internet where The Harry Potter shop is. And this time we found it. Harry was there too ;-)

The shops at Covent garden were not open yet, so we walked around a little. It was very quiet. But when the shops opened many people arrived and the streets where crowded. We bought some sweets and other things too.

There was also something to see for the gardener in me...

On our way through the streets we found another Jamies Italien. We decided to have our lunch there. We just had a starter... and a Pavlova..... again :-) so yummie....

We then got to Camden Market by bus so we could watch people and buildings.

The streets in Camden Market where filled with people too. It was fun to look into the little shops. But with so many people it was a little stressy too, so we decided to take a rest. At Rachel Khoo's TV show i had seen an interesting icecream factory, the Chin Chin. I found their webside and they are at Camden Market. So we had some cool icecream there. Its frozen with Nitrogen.....Very special!

Because of the many people we decided to drive to Oxford street for shopping. Later we headed to Picadilly Circus again for dinner, at Jamies Diner. I just love Jamie and his recipes. I wish there could be a restaurant here in Germany...

The day ended there and we got back to our hotel where we packed our bags, cause the next day we left.

On sunday we got up early and had our breakfast at The Breakfast Club again. We both had scrambled eggs, because 5 pancakes where a little to much for  me.

With the Gatwick Express we got to the airport where we checked in and had our earlier lunch.

We said good bye to London and flight back to Germany.

I hope to come back again soon. I hope it does not take 16 years again....

Day 2 in London

the second day of our trip we wanted to start with a great breakfast. In the internet i found a cool "restaurant"  called "The breakfast Club". When i found it i just thought: I have to go ther for breakfast. Luckily there was one not far from our hotel near the Liverpool station. I did not have the correct adress so we just looked for it where i thought it should be, but we did not find it. In the evening i searched for the correct adress so we could go there the next day.
We then had our breakfast at McDonalds....
Then we started into the day with a visit at Madame Tussauds. There were many people and although we bought our tickets online we had to wait longer than those people who bought there tickets there...

Did i mention i like Bollywood films and SRK?!

For 1pm we had booked a table at Jamie Olivers italien Restaurant at Picadilly Circus. The food was yummie. I loved the Pavlova i had for dessert. So sad we don´t have one in Germany. Great food and a cool atmosphere.

From the restaurant we took the Tube to Harrods. It was ..... phenomenal. the architecture inside and outside, the things they sell... everything. we bought some scones and muffins for our next rest.

From Harrods we walked to the Royal Albert Hall. A beautiful building with so much music history inside.

From the Albert statue on the other side of the street we walked throught the park to get to Kensington Palace where we took a rest and ate our scones and muffins. There were so many squirrels and they were very tame, so cute.

With new power we walked to Holland park. I left my good friend Franziska on a bench for a rest and discovered the park. My friend ist not as much interested in gardening as i am...

From there we used the Tube to get to St. Pauls Cathedral. Later we walked through Chinatown, where we had dinner. The day ended at Cings Kross station where we looked for Platfor 9 3/4 and the Harry Potter Shop, but we could not find it. So we headed back to the hotel.
